All 19 sacked employees must be reinstated: Minister Kamlung Mossang

BORDUMSA: Arunachal Pradesh Urban Development and Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mossang has said that the Geo Enpro company will have to accommodate the sacked contractual workers. He was referring to the relentless efforts of several organisations who have taken to the streets crying for reinstatement of the 19 sacked workers of the company in Kharsang. "The termination of the workers would cause boundless sufferings to 19 poor families," observed the Minister.

Minister Mossang in a telephonic conversation with The Sentinel on Monday evening further alleged that the company management had "urtailed several services and other benefits of the employees and workers earlier as one of the company's cost-cutting measures." He added, "In spite of this, the company continued and its decision to invoke the contract clauses of reducing manpower and wages is just an excuse to enhance its profit margin in the wake of some additional financial burden incurred by the company.

"With the grant of extended permission to the said company to drill oil till 2030 in the Kharsang oil field, manpower would be naturally required during the operation in the next few months," said the Minister, adding, "so what a huge differences and extra burden befalls the company's exchequer if it continues with the 19 workers that it had sacked, particularly during the present global pendamic scenario."

Referring to his telephonic conversation with the CEO of the Company, Mossang — who is also the local MLA— said that he "categorically demanded that the company's top brass must not always consider finance and profit as the sole parameters and objectives of its setup."

Understanding the extra or increased liabilities of the company due to the revised Government of India industrial norms and tax regieme, Mossang said that providing employment to the locals particularly from the 'Oil Operational Areas' also constitutes a part of the 'Corporate Social Responsibility' (CSR) of the industry.

"Iam closely watching the development here; and my observation is that the local organisations are bent on achieving their one-point demand," said the Minister.
