ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU), in a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister Pema Khandu, on Thursday appealed for the creation of various posts under the Account and Treasury department.

The union stated that there are 33 treasury and 7 sub-treasury offices in the State. However, all these offices are facing acute shortage of staff which is directly hampering the financial matters of the State. Moreover, the department is facing 50 per cent staff deficit.

The treasury offices in the districts are operated under the establishment of Deputy Commissioner and for the smooth running of the offices it should be made independent by providing a Treasury Officer (TO) with equivalent pay to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).

Hence to make it perform better, the union appealed to the State Government for the creation of posts of accountant, assistant, UDC, LDC, DEO, driver, peon, sweeper, chowkidar and contingency caretaker (mali).

Earlier, the union also submitted a memorandum to the CM appealing conduct of the Department Promotion Committee (DPC) every six months by the respective departments according to the State Government norms. The union claimed that there is no regular DPC conducted by the department, which ultimately is curtailing the legitimate rights of the working contingency staff.
