All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union threatens to call bandh

Itanagar: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) has threatened to call a 24-hour bandh if the State government failed to take immediate action over its demands on Chakma-Hajong issues. Speaking to the reporters, Vice President AAPSU Nabam Gandhi said that on Friday AAPSU called a special meeting under the chairmanship of President AAPSU between Central Executive Members and all the federal units regarding the illegal issuance of Residential Proof Certificate(RPC) by some officials to more than 500 Chakma Hajong refugees. The AAPSU has already submitted its representation to the State government on July 18 last demanding immediate action against officials involved in issuing RPC to the Chakma-Hajong community as well as revoking constitutional rights of MLA- Diyun- Bordumsa constituency, informed Gandhi. He also added that during the meeting house decided to resort to the democratic movement in the form of a 24-hour bandh on August 4. "However, if the State government responds to our demands by end of this month we will roll back our resolution to call bandh," added the Vice president. He also informed that AAPSU and its federal unit will file FIR in every district against one Biri Joy for demeaning AAPSU and its cause and the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.
