KIMIN: The All Kimin Youth Welfare Association (AKYWA) along with the public organized a peaceful protest against the Border Roads Organization (BRO), Kimin for presenting Kimin as a part of Assam.

The protest was staged at the BRO office near here on Saturday.

The union has demanded immediate shifting of BRO from Kimin, failing which it has called to continue the protest.

AKYWA general secretary Giogi Johnny alleged that it was a pre-planned move by the BRO to show Kimin under Assam. He appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Home Minister Bamang Felix to shift the BRO from Kimin to Assam.

"We are deeply hurt by the act of BRO. Therefore, we want correction on part of mentioning Kimin under Assam in various national media," he added.

Meanwhile, Gram Panchayat Member (GPM) Bamang Tagak said that a memorandum was also submitted to the Defense Minister appealing to correct the mistake. Kimin is ADC headquarter under Papumpare district of Arunachal Pradesh.

He even said that the BRO has not completed the entire two-lane road from Kimin-Potin as many bridges along with culvert, returning wall and drainage is still to be completed, which was also stated in the memorandum.

"We the Panchayat leaders of Kimin had submitted the memorandum on the day of the inauguration of the road to the Defence Minister. Even the tentative programme of BRO stated Kimin is under Assam," he said.

Despite the submission of a memorandum, why was Kimin indicated under Assam? Why is the BRO so terrified over mentioning Kimin under Arunachal Pradesh, he further questioned.

While BRO denied feeding wrong information, it also claimed that it was done due to strategic reasons which were deliberated at the highest level. Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had inaugurated the road along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Pema Khandu. It was also attended by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and State Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar.
