All Nyishi Students' Union president Nabam Dodum takes stock of COVID situation

HOLLONGI: The All Nyishi Students' Union (ANSU) president Nabam Dodum and general secretary Gora Rikam on Tuesday visited Hollongi check gate to take stock of the COVID-19 situation and interacted with officials, volunteers, public and Bazar Welfare Committee of Hollongi area.

Speaking to the media, ANSU president Nabam Dodum informed that, the team is visiting all the entry points of the Capital complex to get first-hand information about the situation and the needs as well as facilities for the frontline workers rendering their duties selflessly during this tough time.

Dodum said that as per the information gathered during interaction with the locals as well as Front Line Warriors (FLW) in the Hollongi check gate, it was informed that there are some shortage in terms of basic facilities for both FLWs and those found positive during COVID testing.

"I presume that there is some mismanagement in relation to the COVID funds by the State government because the facilities which are to be provided by the government are still pending," Dodum said, while informing that the union will question the State government on it soon.

He further appreciated the common public of Hollongi for calling lockdown voluntarily in the area to contain the COVID virus.

"State government cannot contain this virus alone, but we all have to join this fight and follow all the SOPs as well as other related COVID-19 appropriate behaviours to contain this virus," Dodum added.

Further speaking on the Law & Order situation, SDPO- Papumpare (Rural) DekioGumja informed that people are cooperative and supporting the law enforcing agencies in all forms.

He also opined that Hollongi area has some porous boundaries but the police team is vigilant and keeping its eyes on all the suspected areas.

Moreover, the team is in continuous touch with the check gate at Chimpu to share information about any suspected movement of people/vehicles that have been illegally crossed the Hollongi border, Gumja said.

Meanwhile, EAC cum Incident Commander- BoriaMarchina said that the administration is providing all kind of support to the officials extending their duties in the check gate.

He also said that there are some issues but police, administration and volunteers are working with close coordination so that it could at least help the State in containing the virus. He also appealed the public to follow SOPs and stay indoor.
