Alleged ‘shifting’ of ANM School opposed

Itanagar: Reacting sharply to the alleged shifting of ANM School, Pasighat, the headquarters of East Siang district, to Daporijo in Upper Subansiri district) various organizations and individuals have contested the proposal and appealed the state government to stop the “shifting” at any cost.
Reportedly, shifting of the school was proposed during a meeting held on August 28 this year at the office chamber of Director of Medical Education (Training & Research), Naharlagun. While objecting to the proposal, a local student body has strongly condemned the “move” and termed the initiative “an attempt to conceal the failure of the concerned department in managing the GNM school of Daporijo.
In this direction, the student body has urged the state government to stop the alleged shifting of ANM School, saying the institution has been functioning well here since its establishment way back in 1957.
“We fail to understand the basic motive of the officials for proposing the shifting, as shifting, if any, should have been made to a better place. But the attempt to shift to a place like Daporijo, which is in a remote part of the State with no proper road connectivity is futile exercise,” it observed.
