ITANAGAR: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) has assured Capital Complex Superintendent of Police (SP) Tumme Amo that it will not to resort to any kind of violence during its 36-hour Capital Bandh from August 27. This was conveyed to the SP by a team of ANYA led by its president Byabang Joram. The team members met the SP at his office.

The Capital police has appealed to ANYA to call off the bandh as the timing coincide with Assembly session, the SP said, adding that the ANYA during the meeting had consented that there would be no violence and they would resort to the democratic process to ventilate their grievances. However, the police would be free to take action against anyone found involved in any form of violence, including damaging properties and arson in the name of ANYA, they said. It may be recalled here that IGP (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa, who during press briefing on Thursday had categorically stated that violence in any form would not be tolerated, on learning about ANYA assurance said that if the organization stands by its commitment it would be in greater welfare of the State and its people.
