Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend sufficient funds to flood-affected Kerala, and appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu-led BJP government in state to contribute for Kerala on humanitarian ground.

The APCC in a press release said the Modi-led BJP government was “adamant in not extending required assistance to flood ravaged Kerala.

“The government is not accepting foreign donations in assurance to deal the calamity with domestic efforts, but so far PM Modi has announced only Rs 500 crore as central assistance, which is not sufficient to rebuild the flood-hit areas of Kerala. The APCC would like to question what more domestic efforts has Modi-led BJP government extended to help the flood victims. The total estimated loss during the precarious flood is Rs 19,512 crore as reported, whereas PM Modi is busy being PM of BJP-ruled states only. Modi should stand with the people of Kerala in their times of need. Deliberate denial and delay in extending central assistance has exposed Modi’s political priorities over flood relief work,” it claimed.
