NIRJULI: A 28-year-old woman, identified as Taha Timpu, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her rented accommodation in Nirjuli. The incident occurred on Thursday evening and has caused concern among the residents, leading to a police investigation into the matter.
According to police sources, Taha Timpu, a native of Doimukh in Papum Pare district, was found hanging in her room. The nature of her death is still under investigation as the authorities try to establish whether it was a case of suicide or if there were other factors involved.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo said the police received a complaint at Nirjuli Police Station on Friday against one Manoj Mazumdar who is accused of abatement of suicide relating to the death of Timpu.
The complaint has resulted in a formal investigation process; right from there, the authorities have taken immediate action.
The police have arrested the alleged accused man in connection with this case, Manoj Mazumdar, who is 38 years of age. Mazumdar hails from Jaipur in Lakhimpur district, Assam, and is working presently in Nirjuli. His relationship with the victim and the events preceding her death are under investigation at present.
A case has been filed under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) about abetment to suicide. The authorities are collecting forensic reports and testimony from witnesses to determine the facts in this case.
The incident has raised alarm among the locals, who have been demanding the authorities to carry out a comprehensive investigation. Suicide and alleged abetment are serious issues, and police officials have assured that all angles would be examined to bring out the truth.
Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation. Authorities are also emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and support systems to prevent such tragic occurrences.
