
BOMDILA: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with excitement at Buddha Stadium, Bomdila, and other areas in Arunachal's West Kameng District. The event highlighted the region's rich culture and patriotism.
The program included an impressive parade and colorful cultural performances by local tribes, showcasing their traditions. West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Akriti Sagar hoisted the National Flag in the presence of the Superintendent of Police, government officials, PRI leaders, and a large crowd.
In her speech, Sagar spoke about the importance of Republic Day in honoring India’s democracy and progress. She praised the district’s development and credited teamwork between the administration and the public for this success.
She also raised concerns about the growing issue of drug abuse and asked young people to stay away from narcotics. Sagar urged farmers to stop growing cannabis, emphasizing its negative impact on future generations.
The Deputy Commissioner praised the West Kameng Police for stopping drugs and keeping the district safe. Awards were given to the best cultural groups, parade teams, and stalls. The event ended with a message of unity, pride, and commitment to the nation.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Thana Chariali as part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations in Dibrugarh, marking a historic first. It was the first time Dibrugarh hosted such a major event, and the main event took place at Khanikar Ground.
