ITANAGAR: In response to the increasing incidents of landslides, confusion over road closures and a spike in road accidents in Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, Anini Police has constituted a dedicated traffic wing to enhance traffic regulation and public safety.

Sub-inspector Sahwney has been appointed as the officer-in-charge of the traffic wing with immediate effect. The new unit will work to ensure effective traffic management and clear, timely communication with the public, especially during weather-related disruptions.

The wing has been tasked with several key responsibilities including, strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations; close coordination with the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) to obtain real-time updates on road conditions, particularly during landslides or blockages; prompt dissemination of information about road closures and openings.

The traffic wing would also monitor road safety and implement preventive measures to reduce accidents; and launch a dedicated traffic helpline to assist the public during emergencies or travel-related uncertainties.

The contact details of the helpline will be shared shortly.
