Itanagar: The state unit of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) on Friday held a protest foot march in Itanagar demanding justice for Prabash Doley, a 22-year-old migrant construction worker who was allegedly murdered on June 18 in Chimpu.

Doley, who was working at a construction site in Chimpu, was allegedly attacked with a machete by one Tai John (26), which led to his death. John owns a nearby car wash. The two had reportedly argued over construction-related noise before John attacked Doley. Itanagar police have arrested the accused.

“The brutal killing of a poor worker over a petty dispute is unacceptable. We demand swift justice and exemplary punishment for the accused,” said Arunachal unit BMS president Ringu Chapo, who led the protest.

Protesters led by BMS, including members of the Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Union, also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pema Khandu demanding ex gratia compensation for the victim’s family and strict punishment for the accused.
