Arunachal celebrates National Consumer Day

ITANAGAR: Along with rest of the country, the Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs (LM&CA) observed National Consumer Day state-wideon Tuesday with the theme “Timely Disposal of Consumer cases” onMonday here.

This day is observed to commemorate enactment of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 which was enacted in Parliament on this day of 24th December in 1986. The enactment of this Act is considered a historic milestone of the consumer movement in the country. In HQ office, the Department has observed the Day by organizing a meeting cum awareness programme on consumer protection for its officers and officials here at its conference hall.

Controller Legal Metrology cum Director Consumer Affairs Hoktum Ori on the day urged participating officers and officials to update the knowledge on consumer protection so as to guide and advice people to become a wise shopper and to fight against unfair trade practices.
