Arunachal CM Khandu Lauds Claretian Missionaries In Lower Subansiri

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday highlighted the contribution of the Claretian missionaries for quality education in the State and put on record that Saint Claret College at Ziro in the Lower Subansiri district is one of the best colleges in the State as well as in North-East.

Inaugurating the new academic block of the college, the Chief Minister, while referring to the New Education Policy (NEP), said that it is a reform to be mandated everywhere by 2030.

Khandu also assured State Government's help to the college for setting up a gallery for games & sports.

The Chief Minister, along with other guests, also visited and inspected the facilities available in the college.

Education Minister Taba Tedir emphasized that education should be affordable, accessible and accountable to all the people. He acknowledged the missionaries for taking the quality of education to new heights and also urged the students to be good citizens of the country.

The college's principal, Dr Allwyn Mendoz thanked the Chief Minister for his support of Rs 2.47 crore and other contributors and well-wishers for their contribution towards the completion of the new academic block, which has a total coverage of 74,973 sq feet area with 29 classrooms, 4 laboratories, an auditorium, seminar hall and a few support services for the students and faculty members.

Bishop of Itanagar Rev John Thomas, highlighted how the Catholic Church have contributed for the quality education in various part of the country, especially in Arunachal Pradesh. Rev Pius Thuruthiyil, the major superior of North East Claretians, acknowledged the contributions of the founding former principals and vice-principals and other chain of people who have put their valuable contribution and support for the college.
