
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary artist, remains an inspiration for generations because of his influence on the cultural and emotional texture of the state.
He also said that Hazarika was unique in his presentation of the state's beauty and richness in music and became a people's personality in Arunachal Pradesh.
In a social media post that is filled with emotion, Khandu said: "Through his soulful voice and powerful pen, Bhupen Hazarika beautifully captured the essence of our state's breathtaking nature and vibrant culture in his songs." The remarks came during a meeting with representatives of the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust in Itanagar. The delegation visited the Chief Minister to discuss plans for celebrating Dr. Hazarika's 100th birth anniversary next year.
Khandu said he was enthusiastic about the centennial celebrations and described them as a befitting tribute to the great artist's immense contributions. "It was a pleasure to host the delegation from the Bhupen Hazarika Cultural Trust and discuss plans to celebrate his 100th birth anniversary," he shared.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of recognizing Hazarika’s unparalleled legacy in art, music, and culture. He described the centennial as an opportunity to inspire future generations by remembering the multifaceted contributions of the maestro. “This milestone is an opportunity to honor his unparalleled contributions to art, music, and culture, which continue to inspire generations,” Khandu noted.
Bhupen Hazarika, whose voice is popularly labeled the "Bard of the Brahmaputra," is a singer, also a lyricist, poet, and filmmaker; the songs he sang cut geographical barriers and linguistic boundaries connecting millions of people in that great Northeastern region across countries. His compositions were true indicators of his deep personal identification with Arunachal Pradesh, which showcased a rich tapestry of splendorous nature along with cultural ethos.
As Arunachal Pradesh prepares to celebrate the centenary of Dr. Hazarika, there will probably be a series of events marking his artistic and cultural heritage as the state remembers his enduring contribution to the cause of humanity.
