ITANAGAR: With five fresh cases, including three ITBP personnel, testing COVID-19 positive on Sunday night, the tally of coronavirus in the State rose to 181 with 121 active persons, a senior health official informed here on Monday.
The cases of the three ITBP personnel, who had recently returned from Assam, were detected in the State capital, he said. While one more case was detected from Namsai, another was reported from the worst-affected Changlang district — both were returnees from outside, informed State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa.
All the cases have been detected from quarantine centres and were asymptomatic, he said.
On Sunday, six patients including five from East Siang and one from Changlang district were released after their samples tested negative for two consecutive times. "They have been released as per standard operation procedure (SOP); and advised to go for 14-day strict home quarantine and self monitoring," Dr Jampa added.
With the fresh cases, Arunachal has now 121 actives cases, while 60 people have recovered from the disease. A woman from West Kameng district died of the infection.
Changlang is the worst-hit district with 52 active cases, followed by Itanagar Capital Complex (38) and West Kameng (12).
The first case in the State was reported in April 2, after a 31-year-old man tested positive for the disease following his return from a religious congregation in Delhi. He was discharged from a hospital on April 16.
After almost six weeks, the State registered its second case on May 24, after a student who had returned from Delhi tested positive for the disease.
As of date, a total of 23,011 swab samples were tested; out of which 21,071 samples tested negative and results of 1,672 are awaited. Altogether 182 swab samples were found positive; out of which while 121 are active cases, 60 persons were discharged after being cured of the disease.
