Itanagar: In a strong call for united action, Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner Vivek H P on Thursday stressed that combating drug abuse is not solely the duty of the administration and police, but a collective responsibility of the entire community.
Chairing the ninth Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) coordination meeting the DC urged citizens and stakeholders to actively participate in the fight against the drug menace. Highlighting recent progress, Vivek applauded the district police for registering six NDPS cases and arresting eight individuals involved in drug-related crimes since the last NCORD meeting.
He also praised the proactive role of community-based organisations (CBOs) in raising awareness and supporting anti-drug efforts, encouraging their continued collaboration. Vivek commended Ziro-I CDPO Bullo Rinyo, for her extensive awareness work on HIV/AIDS and drug abuse in partnership with ASHA workers and the district police.
