ITANAGAR: With Arunachal Pradesh being the leader in bamboo resources in the entire North East region with scores of its species spanning thousands of sq kms, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna has asserted on finding a solution for its full utilization, saying it should not remain as a limited local usage.

“Our State is repository of bamboo resources having the highest bamboo reserves in the entire NE region with 74 species and 15000 sq km of coverage. Mein said that since time immemorial the usage of bamboo for housing and other constructions are traditional and part of local culture of people of the State. The founder and CEO of the South Asia Bamboo Foundation (SABF), Kamesh Salam, highlighted the functions of the application. He informed that the advantage of the app is to promote bamboo housing under PMAY (Prime Ministers Awaas Yojna), homestay housing, tourist cottages etc. To create a niche for bamboo in eco-tourism in the country where Arunachal Pradesh will take the “lead”, a workshop cum training on ‘Building with Bamboo’, organized by the state govt jointly with SABF and Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC), will be held at Namsai from 24th October to 2nd November next.
