Arunachal Deputy CM Unveils Tai Khamti Aromatic Herbal Sauna Bath At Golden Pagoda

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the first-ever Tai Khamti Aromatic Herbal Sauna Bath, located at Kongmu Kham, also known as Golden Pagoda.

The project was developed by Ven Bhikkhu Vimala Tissa, the Abbot of Kongmu Kham Monastery, who brought out the traditional, rich heritage of the area by combining the best and modern wellness techniques in addition to the traditional medicinal art of Tai.

During his address, the Deputy Chief Minister referred to the initiative as a novel contribution to community health and as a reflection of the cultural legacy of the state. He explained that herbal sauna bath employs medicated steam infused with aromatic herbs that gives relief from common ailments such as colds, improves sleep quality, and promotes relaxation.

“This herbal sauna is a blend of tradition and wellness that emphasizes our ancient knowledge systems. It offers therapeutic benefits while promoting cultural heritage,” said Mein. 

The facility is open to all members of the community, regardless of age, and is free. The sauna uses a traditional technique to produce herbal steam, which gives a unique healing experience as compared to the conventional sauna baths.

Deputy Chief Minister Mein appreciated Ven Bhikkhu Vimala Tissa for his efforts in preserving the Tai Khamti traditions while making them relevant to modern times. “Such initiatives reinforce the importance of cultural preservation while improving public health and well-being,” he added. 

The Tai Khamti Aromatic Herbal Sauna Bath is expected to draw attention for its cultural and therapeutic significance, marking a milestone in the region’s wellness and heritage promotion efforts.
