ITANAGAR: Longding district administration in Arunachal Pradesh has restricted the movement of migrant labourers and people from Assam keeping in view the surge of COVID-19 cases in neighbouring Assam.

Longding district has proximity to Assam through Sonari town in Sivsagar district.

Deputy Commissioner Chesta Yadav in an order issued on Friday prohibited unauthorized entry of labourers, construction workers, businessmen and salesman into the district after report of two COVID-19 positive cases in Sonari town on Thursday, in order to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The order also put restrictions on inter-state persons without valid movement pass and further added that no movement pass would be issued to any individual for travel to Assam and back except on medical emergencies with referral from the medical officer concerned.

However, movement of essential services would be allowed for which movement pass need to be obtain from the DC office at Longding and Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) office at Kanubari, the order added.
