Arunachal District Hosts Patriotic Song Competition: Tribute Through Music

A patriotic song competition was held in Arunachal's Lohit district, paying tribute through music to Captain K K Venkatraman.

ITANAGAR: Despite heavy rains and thunderstorms, the spirit of patriotism filled the air at Indira Gandhi Government College (IGG) at Tezu in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh, as the maiden “Captain K K Venkatraman Memorial Patriotic Group Song Competition” was held with great enthusiasm on Saturday.

Organized by the NSS and NCC units of IGG College in collaboration with the Bamboosa Library, the event was sponsored by the 6 Kumaon Regiment of the Indian Army and coordinated by Dr Tame Achi, NSS Officer at IGG College.

A total of 12 teams, comprising around 60 students, participated in the vibrant musical contest. Introducing Capt (Retd) K K Venkatraman as a multifaceted personality who devoted over four decades to the educational upliftment of Arunachal’s youth, the coordinator of the Lohit Youth Library Network recalled his lasting contributions.

Captain Venkatraman, fondly known as Capt Ji, played a key role in promoting education among first-generation learners and was a passionate founder-patron of the Lohit Youth Library Movement. Associate professor of the college Dr Manas Kr Jana paid rich tributes to Capt Ji and praised the efforts of the NCC and NSS units for collaborating with the 6 Kumaon Regiment and Bamboosa Library to organise the patriotic song competition.
