ITANAGAR: Sixteen Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students from Don Bosco College (DBC) here showcased their research on Friday in a vibrant display of academic excellence and social engagement. As part of their degree requirements, the students presented studies that tackled critical community challenges with fresh insight and academic rigour. The event featured in-depth presentations evaluated by Dr Chapiak Lowang, an external examiner from Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), who praised the quality and relevance of the research.

“The depth of analysis and sensitivity to local contexts in these studies is commendable. Such research not only enriches academic discourse but also equips policymakers and NGOs with actionable data,” Dr Lowang said.

Under the mentorship of faculty members Dr Dominic Leo, Telesphore Topno, Decem Mitkong Santini and Francis, the students explored a wide range of social issues, from the effects of divorce and urban waste management gaps to gender-based and sexual violence. Their work combined both qualitative and quantitative approaches, reflecting a strong commitment to real-world problem-solving through evidence-based research. “Our goal is to nurture socially responsible practitioners. These projects are more than academic exercises; they are blueprints for transformative change and a critical step toward earning their professional qualifications,” Dr Leo said.
