Itanagar: To give fresh momentum to Arunachal Pradesh’s ambitious Orchid Mission, Chief Secretary Manish Kumar Gupta held a virtual meeting with India’s Ambassador to Thailand Nagesh Singh, exploring international cooperation in orchid cultivation. The talks focused on attracting Thai private investments, sourcing high-quality planting materials, and accessing technical know-how to strengthen both scientific and commercial orchid farming in the state. Special attention was given to training farmers, self help groups (SHGs), and farmer producer organisations (FPOs) to scale up cultivation efforts. The state is particularly interested in technology transfer in tissue culture and is seeking Thai support to set up a centre of excellence and a model orchid cluster under a public-private partnership (PPP) framework.
