A Correspondent

ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Film Federation (FFA), in a press release stated that it is deeply hurt by the lackadaisical attitude of IPR Department, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, shown towards local filmmakers, as regards the ensuing Itanagar International Film Festival (IIFF) is concerned. The FFA said it was never informed by IPR Department that the IIFF will be hosted in Itanagar thereby depriving local filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work.

Therefore, the FFA boycotted the festival and asked its members to refrain from participating in the festival. The FFA further added that although meetings were held between the department concerned and a FFA team lead by its general secretary Shambo Flago, no positive outcome has so far been achieved. FFA also questioned if film festivals are not conducted for the benefit of indigenous filmmakers then for whom it is conducted. “If more than 400 filmmakers are not allowed to participate then is it for outsiders only?,” stated the FFA release.
