Itanagar: The Tawang district administration in Arunachal Pradesh has put two girls from the district under home quarantine as they had travelled in the same flight with a man from Mizoram, who tested positive for COVID-19 recently, a senior government official said here on Friday.

The girls were found to have travelled on the same flight from New Delhi to Guwahati on March 16 along with the 50-year-old man from Mizoram. Both of them sat just next to the infected man on the Indigo flight 6E 939.

“Their samples have been collected by officials in Tawang and sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) late Thursday evening for test,” Health and Family Welfare Secretary P Parthiban informed.

The two girls were seated on 16D and 16E while the Mizoram man was seated on 16F. The girls are currently in Tawang and have been home quarantined.

According to reports, the man from Aizawl with recent travel history to Holland, tested positive for coronavirus, making it the first confirmed case in Mizoram and the second in Northeast India so far.

The man along with his wife and two children, who accompanied him on his trip to Europe, have been kept at an isolation ward in Zoram Medical College (ZMC). His sample was tested at the GMCH where it was declared positive.
