ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh government has issued an advisory to all the districts to strictly implement COVID- appropriate behaviour and other measures to avoid any spike in Coronavirus cases in the State.

The advisory issued by State Health and Family Welfare Secretary P. Parthiban, also directed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to take special care in implementing the measures in crowded places like markets and religious institutions. The advisory was issued after the recent surges of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, Punjab, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Chattishgarh.

The advisory also asked the District Medical Officers (DMO) to ensure maintaining adequate testing levels by focusing on increasing the proportion of RT-PCR and TrueNat tests. It also asked to mandatorily go for RT-PCR tests of all persons found negative during Rapid Antigen Tests.

Parthiban also directed the Health authorities for regular monitoring of the mutant strains through testing followed by genome sequencing as well as monitoring of the emerging cluster of cases.

The advisory also stressed on refocus on strict and comprehensive surveillance as well as stringent containment in selected districts with spike in cases.

COVID UPDATE: Arunachal Pradesh did not report any fresh COVID-19 cases for the past two days. The total caseload State remained at 16,839. The recoveries stand at 16,780. The State currently has three active COVID-19 cases, while 56 people have succumbed to the infection so far. The recovery rate has touched 99.64 per cent, while the positivity ratio stands at 0.018 per cent and the fatality rate at 0.33 per cent, said State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa.

Namsai district has the highest number of active cases at three. Altogether, 4,04,737 samples have been tested for COVID-19, including 457 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a total of 55,304 persons have been inoculated so far since the vaccine drive began in January this year., informed State Immunization Officer Dimong Padung.
