Arunachal Governor BD Mishra, CM Pema Khandu extend Reh Festival greetings

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended their wishes to the people of the State, particularly the Idu Mishmi community, on the occasion of Reh Festival.

The governor expressed his hope that the festival would evoke blessings of the Almighty and spread the message of love, peace and fraternity, far and wide.

In his message, Dr Mishra said that Reh, one of the most important festivals of the Idu Mishmi community, reflects the vibrant and joyous traditions of the State.

“I urge upon every member of the community and members of other tribes as well to participate actively in the event and strengthen the cohesive inter-fold bonding,” the governor said in his message.

Stating that the youth from different tribes have to remain conscious of their rich culture and ethos to carry it forward, the governor said that the diverse socio-cultural traditions of the tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh, their rituals, their synergy with the environment, and their unique dialects give strength to the social fabric of the State.

“Against the backdrop of the attenuating influence of our tribal culture, it is important that our age-old traditional heritage is protected and preserved,” he emphasised. “On this auspicious occasion, I offer my prayers to divine mother ‘Nanyi Inyitaya’ to bless each one of us with her choicest blessings, Mishra added.
