Arunachal Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra attends Sarva Dharma Parthana Sabha

Itanagar: A Sarva Dharma Parthana Sabha was organised on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti at Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday where various religious faith leaders and special invitees including schools children from different schools of the state attended.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra along with his wife Neelam Misra joined the people from all faiths to pay floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.

Faith leaders offered prayers for world peace and amity in their respective customary ways.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor recalled the characteristic aspects of Satyagrah and Ahimsa of the Mahatma.

Mishra exhorted the people of the state to imbibe the Gandhian thoughts and way of life, a Raj Bhawan communiqué informed.

He said that incorporating truthfulness, brotherhood, cleanliness, transparency, accountability and honesty in the approach to life, administration and projects, will be the greatest tribute to Gandhi on his birth anniversary celebration. To commemorate the occasion, a documentary on traditional weaving, titled, ‘ Bhunai Ke Rangin- Loin Loom Weaving’ conceptualized by the governor’s wife was also relelased.

The documentary, which aims to promote traditional weaving, was dedicated to the Father of the Nation by the First Lady of the State, on his Jayanti, who work in his life time worked and promoted Khadi as mean for self resilience and empowerment. Rachna Raj, a student of North Eastern Region Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), dwelt on the life of Mahatma Gandhi, the communiqué added.
