Arunachal Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra Stresses Strengthening Of Police

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Monday requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to initiate measures to strengthen the State police forces to tackle the insurgency problem in troubled Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of the State. The Governor, who called on the minister in the national capital, emphasised on strengthening the State police through a modernization process by providing adequate funds for accommodation facilities to the lower level personnel and mobility.

He also stressed on upgrade of riot control training and riot control equipment, an official communique informed. Besides discussing the security scenario of the State, particularly the eastern districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding, Dr Mishra also briefed the Union Minister regarding jails in the State and its challenges. The Governor shared the anguish of the people with the Home Minister against militancy in the eastern parts of the State and barbaric killing of sitting MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others on May 21 this year by suspected NSCN militants in broad day-light, the communique added.
