Arunachal Health Minister Alo Libang & CS review COVID preparedness in State

Itanagar: With daily life coming to a grinding halt in Arunachal Pradesh due to 21-day lockdown, a high level team led by Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang and Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar inspected all preparedness to prevent outbreak of coronavirus in the state on Monday.

The team including secretaries P Parthiban (Health & Family Welfare) and Anirudh Singh (logistic & medicine management) first inspected the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun, the lone medical college which has been declared as COVID-19 Hospital.

TRIMHS director Dr Moji Jini, Dean Prof J Jaykumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr Hage Ambing, Deputy CMO Dr Taw Kakai, Health Director Dr M Lego, and host of senior doctors explained the nitty-gritty of readiness to fight against the pandemic virus.

Dr Jini said that the process is on to shift 50 patients to Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH) at Itanagar, being the designated hospital for common patients. Two nearby hotels have been taken over and converted into isolation wards too, he added.

The team inspected flu clinic, specially designed COVID-19 ward, the intensive care unit where five Medical Oxygen Supply System (MOSS) units have been installed, informed cardiologist Dr Rinchin Dorjee Megeji.

State epidemiologist-cum-surveillance officer Dr L Jampa disclosed that of the 23 samples sent for test so far, 19 were found negative; result of four awaited and few units are likely to be sent soon.

The State task headed by a doctor has been functioning effectively, said its in-charge-cum-health joint director Dr Emi Rumi.

Patented MOSS, a portable-lightweight oxygen generator especially designed by South Korea-based NF Co Ltd for the hilly areas like Arunachal Pradesh to replace cylinder to supply oxygen, said its business development executive (India, Nepal & Bhutan) Vishal Sagar Puri, who with chief engineer Anshu Saini have been on maintenance of about 33 units installed in various parts of the state since January last.

Libang, who had informed about arrival of first instalment of medical equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPEs), sanitizer, masks and gloves and 20 PPEs are on way, expressed his total satisfaction over the preparation.
