ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Home Commissioner C N Longphai, who also is the mentor secretary for West Siang district, chaired a district-level review meeting at Aalo on Saturday.
West Siang deputy commissioner Mamu Hage briefed him on the district’s progress, while ADC Mabi Taipodia Jini welcomed the mentor secretary and departmental heads to the meeting.
Longphai was on a two-day official visit to the district, an official statement said on Monday.
As part of his visit, the commissioner inspected key infrastructure projects in Aalo Township, including the construction of a 60-bedded general hospital, a mini secretariat, and an outdoor stadium, along with the DC and other officials.
During the meeting, Longphai directed the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of all major projects without compromising quality. He emphasized achieving at least 60% of the physical work within this financial year and urged the rural works department to adhere to project timelines, particularly for PMGSY schemes, with progress reports to be submitted to the deputy commissioner.
Aalo West MLA Topin Ete raised concerns about the defunct condition of the sports complex at Darka, assuring that he would arrange the necessary funds for its revival. In response, the mentor secretary instructed all departments to submit project details with updated photographs and mandated that any new project proposals be routed through the deputy commissioner before submission to the government. Longphai also stressed the need to streamline the marketing of horticulture products to facilitate exports and called for the timely execution of major projects and flagship government schemes to accelerate West Siang’s development.
