Itanagar: The Indian Army has achieved a significant milestone in Jido, Upper Siang, by helping tribal entrepreneurs export 2.5 lakh oranges worth Rs. 10 lakhs to Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

This is the first-ever export of its kind, marking a big step towards promoting self-sustained economic growth in the region. The initiative aims to uplift border villages and support local entrepreneurs.

The success of this project highlights the Indian Army’s efforts in bridging security with development through skill-building and financial empowerment.

Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, praised the ADGPI - Indian Army for its role in improving the lives of people in the border areas.

Earlier this year, Assam achieved a significant milestone by exporting 5 lakh mandarin oranges to Bangladesh, highlighting the state's growing potential in international trade. The oranges, known for their unique flavor, were shipped from Shribhumi district in Barak Valley through the river route.

Minister Atul Bora celebrated this achievement on social media, acknowledging the hard work of Assam's farmers in cultivating these premium fruits.

He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his visionary leadership and the state's progressive agricultural policies, which had empowered farmers to reach new heights. He also thanked the Assam Agriculture Department, APEDA, and the district administration for their support in making this export a reality.

The Chief Minister responded with appreciation, noting that the export marked a step towards diversifying Assam’s agricultural exports. He further mentioned that agri exports from the state had increased by 85% since 2019.
