ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF), a conglomeration of 26 major tribes and its numerous sub-tribes, in an executive body meeting on Monday held under the chairmanship of its vice president (West) Tarh Tabin, condemned the heinous murder of Tamik Taki, Inspector of Tax & Excise.

Taki, a permanent resident of Komsing village in the Siang district, was abducted from the RWD Colony here on April 22 last and his decomposed body was recovered floating in the river Siang at the BFCC area, Tuting on May 6.

The body's was found with legs and hands tied by 6 mm GI wire and bore multiple injuries, exhibiting that third-degree torture was meted out to him before being killed.

The AITF has urged upon the Home Department to ensure immediate arrest of the culprits and ensure capital punishment.

The meeting decided to join the 'peaceful candle march' from Akashdeep to Solung-Mopin Ground at 'O' Point Tinali here on May 18 next from 6:30 pm, as a mark of solidarity with the Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and family members of the deceased.

The AITF appealed to the civil society, community-based organizations, frontal organizations, youth, women's and students' organizations, senior citizens and intellectuals to join the peaceful candle march. Criminals are criminals having no religion, tribe or region, a befitting punishment as a deterrent measures is the call of the hour, the house observed.

The young officer Taki has left behind a hapless wife and a baby girl.
