ANINI: The National Highway-313 in Anini was hit by a massive landslide during the evening hours of February 26 in Dibang Valley District, Arunachal Pradesh, causing severe traffic disruptions. Heavy rainfall throughout the past weeks caused the landslide that destroyed vital sections of the National Highway-313, which runs between Roing in Lower Dibang Valley and Anini in Dibang Valley.

This highway holds strategic importance due to its proximity to the international border with China and is vital for the region's connectivity. Through this vital link, Dibang Valley's residents get the sole method of transporting themselves and their goods between the region and the outside world. The landslide has caused a complete blockade, affecting daily travel and transportation.

The district administration has deployed both personnel and heavy machinery to accelerate the repair work of the damaged road. While efforts are underway, normal traffic conditions are expected to be restored.

The District Magistrate of Dibang Valley has issued a traffic restriction ordering travelers to stay away from the area during the repair operations. Travelers must stay away from the restoration zone since it remains dangerous until maintenance operations are completed.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Wangki Lowang has reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening conservation policies and promoting ecotourism as a sustainable development strategy.
