ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Law Students' Union (ALSU) has served a 15-day ultimatum to the State Government to address their 3-point charter of demands, and in case of failure to meet the demands within that deadline the union has announced that it will organize a series of a democratic movements in the State.

The union has demanded an immediate inquiry over the breach of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) strong room, the establishment of a fast-track court, and the cancellation of advertisement for the post of Assistant Professor (JG Law College, Jote).

Addressing mediapersons at the press club here on Monday, ALSU vice president (Protocol) Teli Naga said that the union has earlier lodged an FIR in the SIC in connection to the breach of the APPSC strong room. However, the State Government as well as the SIC have failed to respond to the FIR till date.

Naga said that the State Government should also immediately establish a fast-track court for speedy trial of any scandals related to the APPSC. Naga said that there have also been a series of anomalies in the examination for the post of Assistant Professor for the Jarbom Gamlin Law College conducted by the commission in regard to the upper age limit. He said that the APPSC violated rules by re-notifying the upper age limit of APST (Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe) from 32 year to 35 years and changing it to 37 years with 5 years' relaxation for the candidates. Therefore, the commission should cancel the notification issued by the Administrative Reforms (AR) Deputy Secretary on July 16, 2018.

"The notification issued by the commission in regards to the upper age limit is unjustified and discriminatory in nature. Therefore, ALSU demanded that the State Government should publish the action taken report from SIC (VIG), and the progress report within 10 days, which they failed to do", he said. Naga said that now that the State Government has failed to address the demands, the union has yet again submitted a reminder-cum-ultimatum to the State Government.

"The issue relating to APPSC paper leakage is not confined to just any particular students' organization. It is a matter of concern for the future of the State and its people. Therefore, ALSU also supports the 12-hour bandh called by ANSU and will participate openly", he added.

Naga said that the union on Monday submitted a reminder-cum-ultimatum to the State Government demanding immediate endorsement of ED to seize properties of all the accused persons involved in the case, cancellation of the Notification issued by the Administrative Reforms (AR) Deputy Secretary on July 16, 2018, suspension of all upcoming examination and transfer of the SP of Fire & Emergency Services.
