
ITANAGAR: In a firm move against criminal activity, Naharlagun police have arrested three persons suspected to be behind several cases of theft and burglary in the area.
The trio was arrested as part of a larger effort to improve safety and security for the locals.
The suspects have been identified as Lokap Bagang, Nikhil Barman, and Tayu Taku. Bagang, 35, hails from Chayangtajo in East Kameng and is accused of targeting vulnerable patients at the TRIHMS hospital in Naharlagun, stealing money while they were asleep.
Nikhil Barman, a 24-year-old from Cooch Behar, West Bengal, was arrested for committing burglaries during the day. He allegedly entered homes with the intent to assault the occupants while armed with a dangerous weapon. Tayu Taku, 23, from Michawa in East Kameng, faces charges related to multiple incidents of motor vehicle theft, burglary, and housebreaking in Naharlagun.
In response to these arrests, police officials issued a public notice advising the general public to be careful when buying second-hand articles since they might be stolen goods. The general public was urged to inform the authorities promptly whenever they detect abnormal activities so as to help cut crime in the area.
