Arunachal Police kills DSP murderer at Rama Camp under West Kameng district

Itanagar: Tagyung Yangfo alias Jombo Yangfo, accused of killing Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bomto Kamdak in 2016, was reportedly killed in an encounter at Rama Camp in Dirang under West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday morning, police said.

Police had announced cash reward for information of Yangfo.

Director General of Police (DGP) RP Upadhyay told media persons at police headquarter (PHQ) here that a police team led by crime branch SP Navdeep Brar asked him to surrender but he fired upon the police party.

“The police party retaliate in self-defence in which he suffered gunshot injuries and died on the way to hospital,” Upadhyay said, adding one bullet hit the bullet proof jacket of the SP during the exchange of fire.

He added that during the raid, Yangfo’s wife along with 12 bore guns and gun-making material were recovered from the hideout at Rama Camp area. “On further search, the accused was located at Khamkar Nala nearby,” the SP said adding that Yangfo was asked to surrender.

Multiple cases were registered against Tagyung Yangfo and was wanted under Chayangtajo police station (FIR no 5/2016 u/s 302, 333, 212, 216/34 IPC r/w 27 Arms Act).

Kamdak, posted as a DSP in East Kameng district, was killed in an exchange of gunfire between the police and miscreants at Seppa on August 13, 2016.
