Arunachal Pradesh achieves cent per cent birth registration

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh has achieved cent per cent registration in respect of births while, the registration of deaths is only 26 per cent, State Chief Registrar for Registration of Births and Deaths said.

Addressing the seventh inter-departmental coordination committee (IDCC) meeting here, he said that the registration needed to be improved to achieve the desired target. The meeting was organised to review various issues for strengthening of Civil Registration System (registration of birth & deaths) in the state.

Representatives from the departments of Elementary Education, Women & Child Development, Panchayati Raj, Agriculture, Horticulture, Heath, IPR and Directorate of Census Operations under central government participated in the meeting. The Chief Registrar appealed all the members of IDCC/sister departments to coordinate and help in achieving the millennium goal of cent per cent registration of vital events by 2022 as adopted by the Centre. The IDCC members present in the meeting urged for sufficient fund provision from registrar general of India for publicity and awareness programmes on working of Registration of Births and Deaths in the state especially for the common people, according to an official press note.
