Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh on Monday immersed in religious spirits on the occasion of the consecration ceremony at the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, with special prayers and rallies being organised in various parts of the northeastern state. In the state capital, markets were closed voluntarily to witness the historic occasion. A large number of private schools in the state have also declared a holiday, the official said.

Capital SP Rohit Rajbir Singh informed that adequate deployment of security personnel were made to maintain law and order. “Security has also been tightened at temples in the state capital where the possibility of rush of devotees is high,” he said. Ram devotees were seen thronging in temples to offer prayer to Lord Ram on the occasion.

Live screening of the event through LED screens was made available in various districts of the state which was attended by senior BJP leaders, ministers and MLAs. While union Earth Science Minister Kiren Rijiju witnessed the historic event at Northeast Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) campus, at Nirjuli, Chief Minister Pema Khandu witnessed at Lower Dibang Valley, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein at Namsai and BJP state president Biyuram Wahge at the party’s office here.

Sadbhaav Arunachal, a social organisation distributed 5 kg of sweets in 18 temples of the state capital, its Chairman Tadar Niglar informed. The NGO till Sunday evening distributed as many as 10,800 Ram Jyoti (earthen lamps) to the people of the state capital. Chief Minister Pema Khandu hailed the historic event and greeted the people on the occasion.

 “Wish you all the best on the occasion of the inauguration of Ram Lalla in the newly-built grand and divine Ram Temple in Ayodhya Dham. May Lord Sri Ram grant happiness and prosperity to all and bring welfare to the world. Jai Shri Ram,” Khandu posted in X.
