Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Department Signed MoU With ICAR

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Department has signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Bureau of Soil Survey & Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), North East Regional Centre, Jorhat, of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research under the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, to take up soil resource information & land use planning in Arunachal Pradesh.

The project is going to evolve a consistent soil and land use plan, which shall be the basis of land use planning of the State for judicious use of land resources in Arunachal Pradesh. The ICAR is expected to guide the departments of the State, which are taking up land-based activities particularly for agriculture, horticulture, livestock activities, etc., which will go a long way for better planning on crop diversification as a step towards climate resilient farm activities, according to an official release.

The MoU was signed by the Director of Agriculture, on behalf of the State Government and jointly by Deputy Director General, ICAR, New Delhi and head, NBSS & LUP, North East Regional Centre, Jorhat (Assam), on behalf of ICAR, an official release informed here on Wednesday.
