Itanagar: Day after Congress MP Rahul Gandhi conducted the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Arunachal Pradesh, the ruling BJP in the northeastern state on Sunday hit back at the grand old party by terming it as the most corrupt party.

Gandhi during his yatra here on Saturday alleged that the BJP’s main aim is to empty the coffers of the country, and playing divisive politics by creating hatred among religions, dislike among languages, infighting among states of the country.

“A party leader living in a ‘glass house’ should not throw stones at others. There is no scams in the last ten years under the BJP regime and he (Rahul Gandhi) during his yatra did not mentioned about the recent record breaking cash seizure to the tune of Rs 350 crore from Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu by IT department in a single operation,” BJP state president Biyuram Wahge said.

Responding to Gandhi’s allegation on unemployment in Arunachal Pradesh, Wahge said that the state ranked as a top performer in developing start-up ecosystems and the government has been addressing the unemployment problem with priority.

On allegations regarding lack of development in the state under the Pema Khandu-led government, the party chief claimed that the road sector in the road witnessed a massive progress which the successive Congress governments failed to provide.

Wahge further added that the BJP government in the state is not imposing Hindi language as alleged by the Congress leader but Hindi is a medium of communication between various ethnic tribes of the state with different dialects.

“The Narendra Modi government provides every local language a status of third language in the National Education Policy and the state government is following suit,” he said.

Responding to Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh’s claim that PM Narendra Modi’s statement that no one entered Indian territory nor were Indian posts taken over has weakened the country’s position in talks with China, Wahge said that Modi has been recognised globally and his stand on China is firm.

“The Congress leader should know the history of the country and they should remember the statement given by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the northeast during the 1962 Chinese aggression,” he added.

“PM Modi’s statement was not only an insult to our 20 martyred soldiers but because of that clean chit, China is showing aggressive attitude in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh,” Ramesh had posted on X in Hindi.

“The PM proudly says that he has met Chinese President Xi Jinping 18 times. But what was its effect? Cheap Chinese imports are increasing and millions of small businesses, which used to provide 90 per cent of employment, have closed. Every half hour, an unemployed youth is committing suicide,” Ramesh had alleged.
