Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Release of Prisoners on Gandhi Jayanti

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the proposal for granting special remission to prisoners of specific categories and their release in the second of the three phases as part of commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

The Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, on Friday approved release of the prisoners of specific categories on Gandhi Jayanti this year, a communique from the CMO said.

The Cabinet also approved the Arunachal Pradesh Protection of Medical Service Personnel and Medical Service Institutions (Prevention of violence and damage or loss of Property) Bill 2019 to be tabled in the ensuing Budget session starting July 8 next.

Among other important bills, the Arunachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council Bill 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill 2019, the Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Bill 2019 and the Arunachal Pradesh Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill 2019 were approved by the Cabinet to be tabled in the ensuing Assembly session.

While observing that the sports stadiums in the State being used randomly for any other purpose instead of sports activities, the Cabinet approved the regulation of use of sports stadium.

In order to encourage sports activities and hone hidden talents of youths in various disciplines, the cabinet approved for creation five posts of coaches in football-2, wushu -1 and taekwando – 2 in the Sports Department.

The Cabinet also discussed on the status and way forward for acquisition of land for Joram-Koloriang and Potin-Bopi roads. A detail power point presentation was presented on the status of Smart city at Itanagar and Pasighat by the department of Urban Development during the meeting, the communique added.
