Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) castigates Centre over fuel price hike

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy has criticized BJP-led NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for exorbitant high rate of fuel in the country.
“The average price of gasoline around the world is 1.17 U.S dollar per barrel while it is 1.16 dollar per litre in India. All countries have access to the same petroleum prices of international markets but impose different taxes and offer subsidies for gasoline leading to different retail prices of gasoline,” the former MP said in a press statement here on Wednesday.
Sanjoy alleged that the NDA government is looting the people with high prices in petrol and diesel. The APCC chief asked the state’s ruling BJP government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu to immediately reduce all local taxes and VAT on fuels as the high rate has being pushing high rates of essential commodities in Arunachal Pradesh where transportation by road is the only means of communication.
“If the government fails to do so, the Congress would be forced to take the facts and figures to hold dharna in district headquarters including state capital to explain the masses how the state government has been looting in the name of ‘acche din’, he added.
