Itanagar: Congress leaders in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday staged protest in front of CBI office here to register protest against BJP-led NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hundreds of Congress workers led by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Takam Sanjoy staged the protest holding flags and placards alleging the NDA government of destroying all constitutional institutions of the country.

AICC secretary Zenith Sangma also joined the protest.

Addressing the gathering in the state, Sanjoy castigated Modi for telling blatant lies even while campaigning to ensure justice, equality and safety to all, provide jobs to the youth as the nation has been witnessing just the reverse since he came to power since 2014.

“He (Modi) destroyed Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Election Commission of India (ECI) and Parliament, contrary to promises,” Sanjoy alleged.

“None should interfere in a constitutional institutions being autonomous but the NDA government made RBI a farce by enforcing demonitisation that claimed lives of 160 poor while standing in queue to withdraw money as all ATMs went dry while those died in hospitals are not known,” Sanjoy said.

The APCC chief further alleged that in CBI, one Rakesh Asthan, a Gujarat cadre IPS officer was posted by Modi as special director to act as an agent.

“When director Alok Verma started probing Rs. 58,000 crore Rafale deal, Asthan informed the PMO and surprisingly Asthan and Verma were divested of their roles and sent on leave. Appointment to CBI is made by a committee headed by the PM with Leader of Opposition and SC judge as nominee of Chief Justice of India are members. When the order to send the duo on leave was issued at 2 o’clock midnight, the committee was bypassed which clearly indicated the fear of PMO that truth behind the defence deal,” Sanjoy claimed.

Meanwhile, former home minister and deputy speaker Daklo Nidak joined Congress with his over 1,000 supporters in party headquarters here on Friday with Sanjoy welcoming him as he was never in Congress and BJP.
