ITANAGAR: Altogether 61 people including two Army men tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the total caseload in the State to 17,113. The toll tally remains at 56, said State Surveillance Officer DrLobsangJampa here on Wednesday.

Of the fresh cases, 52 were detected through Rapid Antigen Tests while four through RT-PCR and five through TrueNAT methods. Of the total cases, 35 are symptomatic. While 21 new cases were reported from the Capital Complex Region, 12 are from West Kameng, nine from Lower Dibang Valley, six from Tirap, four from Tawang, three each from Papumpare and East Siang and one each from West Siang, Lower Subansiri and Lohit district respectively. The number of active patients has increased to 222.

Meanwhile, 15 more persons recuperated from the disease on Tuesday taking the total recoveries to 16,835. The recovery rate stood at 98.37 per cent and the positivity rate at 1.30 per cent.

The Capital Complex Region -- comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas -- has the highest number of active cases at 86, followed by Lower Dibang Valley district at 47, West Kameng at 25, East Siang (17), Namsai and Tawang at 7 each, Papumpare, Lower Subansiri and Tirap at six each cases, Leparada (5), Lohit (4), East Kameng and Changlang has two cases each while Upper Subansiri and West Siang with one each case.

As many as 4,23,123 samples have been tested so far, including 1,992 on Tuesday, added DrJampa.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,93,180 people have been inoculated in the State so far since the vaccination drive began in January this year, informed State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung. A total of 1,48,927 persons received the first dose of the jab so far while, 44,253 got the second dose of the vaccine.

The State government has made it mandatory for all entering the State to go through Rapid Antigen Test in the check gates, in case they do not have a valid certificate of a recent test or a certificate.
