ITANAGAR: The novel coronavirus cases in Arunachal Pradesh crossed the 100-mark with four more persons testing positive for the infection on Wednesday, a senior health official said on Thursday.

The four new cases have taken the virus count in the northeastern state to 103, of which 93 are active cases and ten persons have recovered, he said.

All the patients are BRTF personnel and reported from quarantine centres. They are asymptomatic and are being shifted to Covid care centers of the BRTF, State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa informed.

The BRTF personnel who were detected in Lower Dibang Valley, Namsai, Tirap and Lower Siang districts, are returnees from other affected states, he said.

The infected person from Lower Dibang Valley district is a returnee from Bulandshar in Uttar Pradesh, while the person from Namsai had returned from Tamil Nadu, the Tirap person had returned from Kerala and the patient from Lower Siang district had returned from Chandigarh recently, Dr Jampa said.

A total of three persons were discharged from covid care centers on Wednesday after their swab samples came out negative in two consecutive tests, Dr Jampa said adding, they were being advised for strict 14 dayshome quarantine and self monitoring.

Among the active cases in the state, 58 are from Changlang district, while eight are from Capital Complex – comprising Itanagar and Naharlagun and another nine from East Siang.

While four active cases are reported from West Kameng district, Lower Dibang Valley and Tirap districts have reported three cases each.

Lohit and Namsai districts have reported two cases each while, Longding, Lower Siang, Tawang and West Siang districts have reported only one case each.

So far ten patients were discharged after being cured of the disease in the state.

The first case in Arunachal Pradesh was reported in April 2, after a 31-year-old man tested positive for the disease following his return from a religious congregation in Delhi. He was discharged from a hospital on April 16.

After almost six weeks, the state had registered its second case on May 24, after a student who had returned from Delhi tested positive for the disease.
