ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Taba Tedir on Tuesday hailed the State Government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, for introducing a comprehensive education policy in the State.

Speaking at a training programme on sensitization of various schemes under Samagra Shiksha – integrated scheme for school education here, Tedir said that the new education policy in the State focused mainly on teachers' training which, was never witnessed before.

The training programme was conducted for the first batch of Zila Parishad chairpersons, Zila Parishad members of 13 districts besides Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Chief Councilors and Corporators of Itanagar Municipal Corporation and Pasighat Municipal Council, an official report informed here. The minister asked the panchayat members to comprehend the New Education Policy which would boost the development of the society.

Tedir further asked them to create awareness at the grassroots level on the schemes of the Samagra Shiksha and requested the participants to take full advantage of the sensitization progranmme for the betterment of the society.

Earlier, Elementary Education Special Secretary, Soumya Saurabh while speaking on the occasion, said that since the National Education Policy commits to universal access to quality early childhood education to all children under 6 years of age, the State government has decided to open 300 Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) in the State. She added that the problem of drop out from the school needed to be minimized.

The Secretary thanked the State government for introducing Mission Shiksha with a vision to provide good quality education to the students in an improved educational environment and uplifting and morale of teachers. The date of the second batch for the sensitization programme has been scheduled on October 28 next, the report added.
