Itanagar, July 26: On the occasion of Kargil Day, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra on Thursday paid tributes to the gallant Indian Army soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil war.

In his message, the Governor said, “On proud occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Day), I salute the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of our gallant Indian Army soldiers who from May 5 to July 26 1999, valiantly fought at the high altitude, snow bound areas of Kargil mountains in Jammu and Kashmir to liberate the Indian territory from the Pakistan Army, who had perfidiously occupied the bunkers on the top of the mountains during the thinning out period of the Indian Army units.”

“The vigour and valour of the Indian Army in the Kargil War has been unparalleled and whole nation stands beholden to the Kargil Heroes of the Indian Army,” Mishra said.

He further said that Kargil Day is observed to mark the end of the Kargil War on 26 July 1999. The Kargil war was fought on the highest battle field of the world. Our brave soldiers fought with grit and guts for the territorial integrity of the Nation.

On July 26 July 1999, The Indian Army carried the day having conquered back all the outposts that had been surreptitiously occupied by Pakistani intruders. On that fateful day, each and every Pakistani soldier on the Indian soil in Kargil was either killed or forced to flee the battle ground in disgrace.
