ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Monday conveyed his greetings to the people of the State in general and the Tawrah and Kaman Mishmi community in particular, on the auspicious occasion of 'Tamla Du'. He expressed his hope that the festivity of Tamla Du would help to facilitate the preservation of the age-old indigenous beliefs and cultural ethos of the fold.

In his message, the Governor said that during the Tamla Du festival, people offer prayers to the God of Water and God of Earth to save their villages from natural calamities.

"We worship the Almighty for the well-being of the human beings, domestic animals and the newly-planted crops. In the interest of our future, let us, on this auspicious occasion, resolve to protect our natural surroundings, environment, the rich flora and fauna and keep Mother Earth, which sustains us, unpolluted," he said.

"May our prayers invoke the blessings of the Almighty Lord Jebmalu and protect us from all harms and damages. May the Tamla Du festival bring peace, progress, prosperity and happiness to all of us," the Governor said in his message. Expressing his concern about the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mishra called for people's cooperation in checking the deadly virus and further advised the people to observe the festival at home and eschew mass congregations.
