ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) B D Mishra and Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended their wishes to the people of the State on the occasion of New Year.

The Governor expressed the wish that the New Year would bring happiness and prosperity to one and all and herald progress, continuance of peace, tranquillity and enhanced pace of development in the state.

In his message to the people, Mishra exhorted all residents of the State to make a New Year resolution to render active cooperation and participation in the efforts of the State government for forging ahead in its developmental march with the rest of India.

"As committed members of 'Team Arunachal', let us establish a new foundation for growth and progress based on 7-principles of good citizenship - Transparency, Accountability, Probity, Promptness, Equal Dispensation, Audit and Mid-course Correction whenever and wherever required. Let us revitalize the financial systems with a view to encouraging investment, creating a conducive environment, strengthening human resources, building strong linkages between industry, academia and government and promoting entrepreneurship through enhancing 'Start Up' capabilities and facilitating greater opportunities for job creation," he said.

The Governor called upon the citizens to dedicate themselves, during the ongoing 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava' to an all-around developmental movement - 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat', launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"On this joyous occasion of the New Year, let us pledge to work hard, in the true spirit of 'Work is Worship', to make Arunachal Pradesh a prosperous State of our country. I am sanguine, Arunachali people will make the New Year 2022 blissful for all," the Governor added.

In his message, Khandu said, "2021 is going by and it is taking with it many memories - both good and bad - upon which we have to build on, no matter what."

Khandu thanked everyone, especially all healthcare and frontline workers for successfully combating the COVID-19 pandemic and cooperating with the government to sail through the bad days.

"We did lose a few precious lives to the pandemic but we need to see the positive side - we have saved thousands of lives too," he pointed.

He, however, cautioned that the 'war against COVID' is not over and people should not let their guards down. He appealed to all residents of the State to adhere to the protocol issued by the Health Department.

"My endeavour will always be to reach out to the people. As Mahatma Gandhi believed that real India resides in the villages, I believe real Arunachal is in the interior, rural and untouched pockets far away from the bustles of the State capital," he said.

Khandu assured a holistic approach for the development of each region of Arunachal Pradesh through the mantra of equitable distribution.

"At this juncture, I would exhort everyone to forget the avoidable memories of the past and welcome the New Year with a new spirit. Let us commit ourselves to peace and development. Let us promise to work together for the prosperity of every individual, community and region of our State. Let this New Year be the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Arunachal Pradesh," he added.
